Mycom compressor plc & hmi development – poultry processing facility

Industry: Food Processing

Refrigeration Compressor

The Client

  • Industry: Poultry Processing
  • Location: Queensland
  • Type of Facility: Large-Scale Processing Plant

A Queensland-based poultry processing facility installing a new Mycom compressor for its ammonia-based refrigeration system required PLC and HMI programming support to ensure safe and reliable integration.

The Operational Challenge

The new compressor formed part of a large-scale ammonia refrigeration system critical to plant operations.

The control program needed to be based on an existing compressor design while being carefully adapted to suit the new installation and site-specific requirements. Given the safety implications of ammonia refrigeration systems, accuracy, collaboration, and disciplined commissioning were essential.

CW was required to work closely with the site’s electrical contractors to ensure seamless integration and smooth commissioning without disrupting refrigeration reliability.

Objectives

The client required:

  • Development of PLC control logic for the new Mycom compressor
  • HMI interface for safe monitoring and operator control
  • Adaptation of an existing compressor control framework
  • Close collaboration with site electrical contractors
  • Safe and reliable commissioning within a live refrigeration environment

Our Solution

We collaborated closely with the site electrical team to design and implement a PLC and HMI program tailored to the new compressor installation.

Works included:

  1. Development and refinement of PLC logic based on the existing control architecture
  2. HMI configuration for clear operator visibility and control
  3. Careful verification of safety interlocks and operating parameters
  4. On-site support during installation and commissioning

Throughout the project, we maintained a disciplined and cooperative approach to ensure alignment between programming, electrical installation, and mechanical integration.

Key Client Benefits

  1. Reliable PLC control of ammonia refrigeration equipment
  2. Safe integration within a large-scale processing environment
  3. Collaborative delivery with site electrical contractors
  4. Adaptation of proven control architecture
  5. Smooth commissioning and reliable system performance

The Result

The Mycom compressor was successfully installed, commissioned, and integrated into the ammonia refrigeration system.
The system is operating safely and reliably, supporting critical refrigeration processes within the facility. The collaborative delivery approach ensured a smooth commissioning process and minimised operational risk.
